Keep Indianapolis Beautiful had volunteers out planting trees. Irvington Terrace was one of the neighborhoods targeted for that effort.

Residents and volunteers set out to plant 70 trees or so along Washington Street. The trees will help reduce street pollution and noise along the busy thoroughfare. This effort is part of KIB's NeighborWoods program. The program has the ambitious goal of planting 100,000 trees over the next 10 years.

Here's a word of thanks from Irvington residents Larry and Juanita Whiteman:

My husband and I just wanted to send a big THANK YOU to the Irvington Terrace residents who helped plant all the beautiful trees with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful. It was so great to see the trees that tears welled up in my eyes.  We are long time residents of Irvington, as well as senior citizens, and hope to be alive to see all the other beautification projects that are to come along, such as the "street scape" that is supposed to be on U.S. 40 (Washington St) between Ritter and Audubon. We moved to Irvington long ago because of the tree lined streets and are again so grateful for the trees along Washington Street that were planted on May 1st.

Dear Irvington Residents and Friends,

I just recently formed Team Irvington for Mutt Strut, the day the track goes to the dogs, on Sunday, April 26, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Why don't you join Team Irvington? All proceeds go towards providing shelter and comfort for thousands of animals at the Humane Society of Indianapolis.

It will be an incredibly fun day of goodwill and fellowship for dogs and owners alike. We need your support, so please join Team Irvington! You can also register as an individual or make a donation to Team Irvington.

Greetings from the Irvington Green Initiative!

I hope your Earth Hour was full of candlelit ambiance - if you were at Lazy Daze, it definitely was! Brian Pitzer and other musicians kept us rockin' (acoustically) throughout the hour and the place was packed. Stop by and thank Jeff for hosting the party, if you get a chance!
