Greetings from the Irvington Green Initiative! We have a big announcement this week in addition to our usual activity listings. IGI is under new leadership! Please join us in welcoming Paul Amico and Jeff Echols as the new IGI co-chairs. Read on for some details on their backgrounds as well as info on the following:
IGI Under New Leadership Jeff Echols and Paul Amico have been meeting with the IGI steering committee to get up to speed about our doings, and they promise to take us to a new level of impact. Though not a native, Jeff is a 13 year Irvington resident who married into an Irvingtonian family. An architect who comes from a family of designers, engineers, inventors and builders, Jeff has been immersed in design and building his entire life. Jeff works for Irvington-based firms HAUS | The Architecture Studio and WERK | build, leading a Sustainable design + build process for commercial and residential projects. Paul is a civil/environmental engineer and Indianapolis native with deep family ties to Irvington. After spending 14 years living in various cities and working on urban water infrastructure issues, Paul returned to Indianapolis in 2004 and settled with his wife and two boys on the north side of Irvington. Paul has recently started working with CH2M HILL to start the new Indianapolis office for their Water Business Group and he will continue to focus on urban water infrastructure, sustainability and infrastructure asset management. Laura Hildreth and I remain involved, but these two are the go-to guys for decision-making. Edibles has always donated food but is now collecting nonperishable food items and monetary donations. The monetary donations go towards helping people who are referred to the program with job interviews, gas money, medication and anything else they might need. Any donations of money or food may be dropped of at EDIBLES or SNIPS during normal business hours. Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated by those less fortunate.
