This article is about something that is a wonderful part of all our lives. We each enjoy this activity and participate in it regularly, but, unfortunately this activity can be quite dangerous to the health of your meditation, yoga and other spiritual practice. Here is a little story to help shed some light on this curious puzzle.
Monk Tataga was a new member of No Wind Monastery and he was busy familiarizing himself with his new duties and responsibilities. He had been given 2 major tasks to start out with. The first was to be the driver for Zen Master Blumise, and the second was to work the front desk and guest reservations at the new Monastery Spa. Both tasks were well within his abilities and he was confident of being able to handle them without much difficulty, except for just one item that was confusing to him. Wanting clarity, he approached senior Monk Tara for clarification regarding it.

To get what we want, we have to know what we want. To know what we want, we have to think about it, feel about it, make determinations about it (okay, this is what I want), and then, once we know what we want, we have to focus on it. Focusing, then, takes on a twofold meaning: focusing in terms of honing in on your desires (determining what they are) and focusing in terms of concentrating joyously on what you've determined your desires to be.

For most of us the need for security and safety is paramount and needs to be fulfilled at some level. This means in order to feel safe we expect to be in a permanent relationship, a permanent job, have enough money and so on. We expect our lives in general to function in well laid out patterns. This permanence is our security.
Unfortunately the universe has different ideas and they are throwing a spanner or two in the works for most of us who expect to lead our lives by the old paradigm..So, what does am I talking about here?
Let us take a look at the big picture to gain a better understanding of what is going on in our internal world: The macro picture shows that the energies in the universe are speeding up. This process is also being referred to as a form of ascension process in which we all partake as we shift to a higher level of consciousness. This shift affects everyone and holds its own challenges regarding mental stability and security.
